Welcome to Jessie's Bees, an independent beekeeping business based in the Yorkshire countryside. From our hives to your home, everything we produce and craft is created with a love for what we do and a respect for our lovely honeybees that make it all possible. 

What started with an interest in bees over a decade ago has grown into much more than we ever expected; caring for our colonies, harvesting Yorkshire honey, educating others through beekeeping experiences and breeding high quality queens. We believe in keeping things natural, supporting our local landscape and giving our bees the best possible home.

2017-2018

The circumstance of how this all started was strange, I was working at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships when my friends mother asked me if I wanted to go beekeeping with her on my day off. I didn't know what to expect but I'll never forget the feeling of opening up that first hive and seeing hundreds of honeybees. I was hooked from the get go and when I was back 'up North' I signed up for a Beginners Beekeeping course and had a wonderful mentor called John who taught me everything.

2019-2021

The years that followed were a huge uphill learning curve. The honeybees know how to keep you humble, and every time I thought I had learned and mastered something, there was another surprise and learning moment. During this time I wrote my university dissertation on the impacts of adultered honey on local beekeepers - now a common and wideknown issue. Tip: If a jar says a blend of EU and Non-EU honeys ... it's not honey. But all of that aside, the passion for this hobby and my homeland of Yorkshire was constantly growing.

2022-2025

Once I'd mastered the art of knowing nothing and everything simultaneously, I thought it would be a great idea to enter into our local 'Halifax Honey Show'. It was a pleasant surprise, and real 'holy honey' moment when we walked away several 1st and 2nd class rossetes for our honey. But the real winner was our darling girl, Rosie, best in show! As the years and seasons rolled by, we took great joy in the time we spent with the bees and being outside in nature.

2026

And this leads us to today, somehow a decade of keeping bees already. I feel so incredibly blessed that I've been able to share this passion with my dad (Brian) who has supported behind the scenes, and can attest to the fact that without him the whole operation would fall apart. He's our heavy lifting, frame making, honey eating monster and I wouldn't have it any other way. And as I look ahead to the next 10 years, I'm super excited. I'm embarking on my Master Beekeeper journey which takes several years, and my dad is taking our queen reering efforts a step further by raising Nucs which will be available to purchase from 2027.
